Game 4 - Dragon's fall to Nunchucking Ninjas

Sorry for the late post folks. A Sunday afternoon of dragon slaying had me to weak too type. This game was no ordinary game. The Cherokee Dragons walked onto Riverwood field tied with the Ninja's atop the division standings. An undefeated record and an intimidating website, the nerves rattled through the Ninja's like a pissed rattle snake.

Starting on the hump was Ben Collinger. Ben hadn't missed a beat since his last start, keeping the bats of the Dragons quite. This allowed the Ninja's to jump to a 8-0 lead early in the game. The Dragons were held scoreless until error's allowed three runs to score. The Ninja's were already up by a score of 12-3 by this point, but still unhappy about the unearned runs.

The game was full of fireworks. JP Lowen created explosions with a grand slam putting the Ninja's up big. Not to be shown up, Angus Nicholson and Wade Beacham also had home runs on the day. The game quickly became out of hand, when in the fifth inning the Ninja's found themselves up 18-3. Chris Hanney made his pitching debut with the Ninja's, looking very sharp by retiring his first two batters of the inning. Walking the next two, he quickly worked his way out of the jam with a strikeout.
While working on his pitches and a small strike zone in his second inning on the mound, things quickly got out of hand by walking his first three batters. Relieving Chris on the mound was JP. Because poor defense and good hitting by the Dragons, the Ninja's finished the inning allowing seven runs. Still up 20-11 the Ninja's had no fear in letting the game slip away.

Adam Beacham
pitched the eight and ninth innings allowing no runs and giving the Ninja's their 3rd victory of the year.

Game Notes
- The Ninja's are now 18-and-2 since the start of last season. Attendance was up this week, approximately 20 spectators were in attendance. Dogs aren't allowed at Riverwood field anymore.
